I am writing a post after longgggggg time especially after I entered into Ph.D.

I am writing this because I always wondered how tough it is to be scientist..

I had my first long experiment to do on friday..02/06/09

I took around 1200 readings,64 injections and it took totally 12 hrs to finish my longest experiment till now.......... with 40 mice together with me !!!!


It was a good starting experience to do this...

I would describe my work environment somewhat...

I have a very very good professor that guides me very well and understands me well too.

I learnt a lot from my 1st mentor in US under whom I was working in Temple University but I still have to learn a lot from my new mentor.

I realized it that you can only be great at your field by continuous experience and efforts to achieve something new and "innovative".

I have a helping colleage and also a 2nd mentor that I dont come into direct contact with but I know that I would be learning a lot from him too.

I changed my field and this changed a lot of things too.Now my prime responsibilities are to develop western blots,lots of animal work that include introducing transponders into their body,taking tempretures using autosensor,perfusing animals,removing brains,taking section of brain,removing striatum and nucleus accumbens from brain.

Also HPLC handling to detrmine dopamine,DOPAC concentrations.

It feels quite good to be in the field you like that I realized only after going and developing dislike to a field I entered into at Temple University.

But this is not the question for me as I am thinking of this as my transition field to enter into some business related to biotech or neuropharmacology related.

My question right now is I have entered my choice of field but after completion of Ph.D whether I would be able to enter into business field ??

However,As per the scene I am looking right now into is after you enter into research after some time you have to handle persons doing research under you rather than directly participating into it....so is it good to do that or to go into business field would be more fruitful????!!!!
